Restoration of Cable Stoppers
As a contribution towards the conservation of this famous Bristol-built ship, Strachan and Henshaw, themselves a Bristol engineering company with a 100 year history, undertook the restoration of the port and starboard cable stoppers as part of their own centenary celebrations.
The work was carried out in 1979 and 1980 by company apprentices Darren Harper, Andrew Peeke, Ian Gallop, Dale Peacock, Simon Rnic and Alan Sauders, under the direction of Apprentice School Supervisor Mr F B Alder.
